FAQ: Why are long stems normal on track bikes?

Because modern track positions often use longer reaches than road bikes

Track bikes are often set up with a longer, more forward cockpit than a road bike. That means a stem that looks long by road standards can still be completely normal on a track build.

Because frame reach is only part of the picture

Frame reach tells you where the top of the head tube sits. Your final handlebar position is affected most by front centre, frame reach and bar reach.
